HISTORY OF OUR LOCAL CHURCH

Trinity Pentecostal Church of God, of Paterson, New Jersey, began only as a dream in the hearts and minds of a handful of people. These people migrated from the Island of Jamaica to the United States in search of a better life, both for themselves and for their families.

It was through the unseen and burning passion that this handful of committed Christians were brought together, namely: Rev. C. J. Baker & Family, Rev. L. Robertson & Family, Rev. S. Johnson, Sister M. Robinson, Sister M. Whyte, Sister P. Broomfield and Brother H. Thomas.

As they continued to pray, the ministers contacted the Pentecostal Church of God Headquarters in Joplin, Missouri, seeking information and direction to the nearest Pentecostal Church in the area. They were directed to West Virginia and were told to contact the Rev. G. M. Farley who was the Superintendent of Capital District of which New Jersey fell under.

Thus, on May 29, 1983, Trinity Pentecostal Church of God, of Paterson, New Jersey, was officially chartered and a Church was formed in the City of Paterson. The Church was incorporated on September 27, 1996.
